URBAN ACTIVATION INSTALLATION: BENCH
Participants of the graduate design-build studio crafted a number of urban installation challenging the design and use of public benches. Their installations addressed the need for moments of social interaction and activity land marks within St. Petersburg’s waterfront. Seating spaces were meant to programmatic accommodate a single user, a couple on a date, and a group of 8 users. Students were asked to analyze how we congregate in public space and propose seating opportunities to meet those we love and strangers alike.
Students developed a series of video narratives illustrating the design, construction, and impact of installation. Refers to links below for individual narratives.
